Serve

Who runs our youth ministry? Our youth leaders!

When it comes to ministry here at WALLOON | YM, we have a simple formula that we have seen work over and over and over again. Here it is:
A caring adult + a student = good stuff!

That’s it. It’s not magic, and it’s certainly not algebraic. We know that when a caring adult is involved in the life of WALLOON | YM students, good stuff happens. Will you consider being one of those caring adults? Our team would love to have you join us! We have many roles that allow for various levels of involvement: small group leaders, teachers, cafe leaders, drivers, special event leaders, etc.

Here are just a few ways to serve at WALLOON | YM:

Life Group Leaders

The biggest task of the LGL is to create a safe place within their small groups where their students know they will belong and grow.

Awesome LGLs also do the following:
  • Pray for their small group daily.
  • Plan an event with their small group at least once a semester.
  • Do something on each of their students' home turf at least once a semester.
  • Do something to serve their community together with their small group at least once a semester.

Teachers

The goal of all of our teachers is to accurately teach God's Word to the next generation a creative and engaging style. If God has called you to teach students, please consider joining MSM, HSM, or one of our Sunday School teams!

Great teachers have:
  • Prepared each week to lead the class in both teaching time and open discussion of the lesson.
  • Devoted time to promoting group fellowship through games, or food, or any other intentional time of fun and safe interaction.
  • Ensured that every student who comes to class is personally greeted by yourself or another leader.

Special Events

Maybe you don't have time to devote each week, but you still have a heart for students and seeing them get pumped about Jesus...

Consider helping with special events!

We can always use help at special events with things such as:
  • Food preparation
  • Transportation
  • Set up and tear down
  • Promotion
  • Security
  • Video and photography
  • Light and sound tech
  • Use of property
  • Use of materials and props
  • And much more!

Sign Me Up!

God has entrusted us with hundreds of students that we minister to on a weekly basis and we believe that healthy relationships with adult leaders foster and encourage healthy spiritual growth. We are always looking for leaders who love Jesus and have a huge heart for students. The quality of adult leadership is extremely important to us. Because we emphasize a high commitment and great care for our students, we encourage you to prayerfully consider this commitment.
