What is Rock The Block?

Every fall, our youth ministry hosts the biggest block party of the area to kickstart our youth ministry programs for the school year.  Featuring Christian rap artist: Stevo Thompson, we're excited to mark the beginning of a new school year with a ton of energy, awesome music, and loads of MUD! You'll want to not only be here on September 8th, but bring your whole squad with you!

Doors open at 5:00 pm and the event ends around 9:00 pm.

"WHAT CAN I EXPECT?"

Every year, Rock The Block brings out so many epic surprises! We're really pumped to bring out TONS of mud. And in the past we've brought out things like:

  • A huge foam bubble pit,
  • Real life American Ninja Warriors,
  • Messy obstacle courses,
  • Epic concerts,
  • Hilarious lip sync battles,
  • All the pizza you can eat,
  • The biggest bonfire you've ever seen,
  • 1,200 GALLONS of SLIME!
  • And so much more!

WHO IS STEVO THOMPSON?

Stephen "Stevo" Thompson is a creative, independent christian hip hop artist/producer making music to reach people for Christ in the greater Chicago area.

After coming to the Lord in high school, Stevo’s passion for music and desire to use his creative gifts for God started growing. He went to Moody Bible Institute, where he graduated with a degree in media arts. Stevo is more passionate and motivated than ever to help people come to know God through his music. 

"For me, success is helping people encounter Jesus through my music so that they might be transformed by God, the same way He transformed me."

Stevo is currently working on a 12-track storytelling album that portrays his life story and testimony in chronological order. Side A of the project, “Take Me Back,” available on all streaming platforms, contains songs that touch on the progression of Stevo’s life from his childhood moments up until the beginning of his high school days, when he came to Jesus for the first time.

Stevo absolutely loves writing, recording, and producing songs that help him share his story and the gospel with listeners. What he enjoys even more, however, is getting the chance to perform his music live for kids and young adults.
